Enrolling in Social Skills Groups

Would your child benefit from a social skills group?

Are you asking the question, "Does my child need help with social skills"?  If you worry that your child does not have friends, gets picked on by peers, or has teachers expressing concerns about how your child interacts with others; then your child may benefit from participating in a social skills group.

Some red flags that may signal your child needs help with social skills include:

  • does not use appropriate greetings
  • displays inappropriate ways of sharing information
  • does not recognize when people look or sound annoyed
  • has poor turn taking
  • withdraws from conversations with peers and others
  • shows problems with emotional regulation
  • rarely says "please", "thank you" or "excuse me"
  • has few or no friends
  • exhibits a hard time controlling voice volume
  • displays other challenges that reduce positive interactions with others

Step one

Complete the Bee Social Network application found on the FORMS tab.  Once completed, click on the SUBMIT button on the form.  Your application will be reviewed by the Bee Social Network team and you will receive a call to discuss your application.

Fill out application

Step Two

The Bee Social Network team reviews your application and calls you to discuss how your child will benefit from one of our social skills groups.  Careful consideration of each client's needs is made in order to promote learning and skill building.  When the Bee Social Network team recommends placement into a social skills group, a Social Performance Review will be scheduled with the parent or guardian.

Step Three

The Social Performance Review is a one hour interview and meeting with the family member and client.  Checklists will be completed during the interview to gather information on current levels of social skills and other areas to target.  A one time fee of $100 is collected and the client is scheduled into the next available group.  Clients may participate in weekly sessions.  Number of sessions may vary based on the month and particular holidays.

Step four

Text message reminders of the client's scheduled group date and time are sent to parent/guardian prior to the meeting day.  The client meets once a week each month.  Sessions are 1 hour in length.  Client's may have "homework" or additional assignments to practice at home. Parental involvement is highly encouraged and Bee Social Network supports caregivers as they strengthen  their child's generalization of social skills across learning environments.

Monthly fees for client participation must be paid no later than the first of the month.

Slots for the upcoming group are secured for the client after receiving payment.

  • One-time Social Performance Review fee:  $100
  • 1 - 2 hour sessions held once or twice a week: $75 an hour

PRIVATE PAY ONLY

Session length is determined individually with each client based on the client's need and parent input.
